FORMER STRICTLY STAR ANN WIDDECOMBE SWAPS THE CHA CHA CHA FOR CHIHUAHAS

Devon’s largest equine charity the Mare & Foal Sanctuary is preparing for its popular annual Horse and Dog Show – with special guest judge Ann Widdecombe.

The former Tory MP, Strictly Come Dancing and Celebrity Big Brother star – who has retired to Devon – will be helping to judge classes on Sunday, September 9th at the charity’s Coombe Park Visitor Centre near Totnes.

The annual show, which attracts animal lovers from all over the South West, includes classes for several breeds, from Best Long Coat to Terrier.

Novelty dog classis include Fastest Bonio Eater, Prettiest Bitch and the Dog with the Best Trick – all scrutinised by the indomitable politician and reality TV star.

Horse and pony lovers will be able to enter junior jumping classes as well as Best Cob, Young Handler, Best Coloured Horse or Pony, Best Veteran and Best Turned Out.

Coombe Park Visitor Centre Manager Vanessa Apicella said: “We are so excited that Ann Widdecombe is coming to join us.

“The annual show has been getting bigger and bigger and is now a firm favourite with everyone who takes part.

“We have some serious classes but the atmosphere is lovely and relaxed with people – and animals – of all ages and abilities taking part.

“We have veteran classes for older animals and inexperienced youngsters riding on lead reins. There really is something for everyone.”

The fun starts at 9am with the dog classes judged by Ann Widdecombe being held in the afternoon.
