Lost in the fog a man stumbles through the open French windows of a remote house. He finds a woman standing with a gun in her hand near the body of her dead husband. The husbands was a detestable man a bully and a control freak.
Thinking Laura the wife has done the murder the stranger agrees to help her. The police are puzzled by a set of unidentifiable finger prints and the plot thickens when it turns out that a man called MacGregor had a grudge against the dead man as he had killed MacGregor’s son whilst driving under the influence of alcohol.
There are so many twists and turns of plot as more suspects emerge and more people cannot really account for themselves on that fateful night.
But Miss Christie surprises us all as always with a final twist
